April 11, 2020 – Robyn Crawford and Ronnie Allen

Morning Session: Introduction to Eden Books

While the concept of Eden Books is one Robyn Crawford had for years, she didn’t commit to developing and launching the site until March 2018. Thanks to the support of many, Robyn found the encouragement and courage to begin development.

In the workshop, she will discuss the concept of Eden Books, its outreach and how she works with authors to promote and sell their books.

Eden Books is dedicated to providing a safe, supportive, inclusive platform that gives authors of all genders, races, ages, or sexual orientation the opportunity to promote and sell their original stories within the romance and women’s fiction genres.

No registration fee. Visitors are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Afternoon Session: Plotting the Thriller

Because of unusual circumstances, Ronnie didn’t have time for her afternoon workshop, so TARA invited her back!

Although the focus will be on thrillers, the principles will be relevant to all genres. Learn where to find inspiration and what defines the thriller and its subgenres, as well as all the details that go into a well-crafted plot: introducing characters and setting, writing the inciting incident, hooking the reader with a compelling first chapter, weaving in backstory, creating cliffhangers and setups/payoffs, handling POV and scene breaks, and much more. The session will end with insights into conducting research and an overview of forensics.

The workshop includes a lot of structural points valid for a page-turning novel in any genre.

No registration fee. Visitors are welcome and encouraged to attend.
