About Us

Tampa Area Romance Authors (TARA)

is a Florida-based, non-profit chapter of Romance Writers of America® (RWA). Our mission is to provide continuing educational and professional support for career-focused romance writers, as well as networking opportunities for people interested in learning about a career in romance fiction. As a group of multi-genre writers, we help our members grow and enhance their writing careers, from their first manuscript to becoming New York Times bestsellers. Each year, we sponsor the internationally recognized TARA Contest for published and unpublished authors.

Membership in Romance Writers of America is required before joining TARA. Visit www.rwanational.org to join the national organization. National dues for RWA members are $120.00; renewal dues are $95.00 per year. TARA dues are $35.00 for new members and $30.00 per year for renewal.

Please keep your membership in RWA current. If you do not, TARA must drop your name from our membership. To be reinstated, you will need to reapply to both organizations.

TARA has a database for our members. In an effort to encourage networking and assistance between our members, we publish a membership roster that includes the contact details gathered on our application form.

After you join or renew, be sure to speak up, speak out, volunteer, participate, and most of all, make yourself at home and feel welcome! We’re glad to have you.

All meetings are held on the second Saturday of the month from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm at: Piccadilly Cafeteria, 11810 Dale Mabry Highway North, Tampa, Florida. Guests are welcome to attend two general meetings before joining. See you at our next meeting!
